Nice camera angles! What do think about this ” shallowing move” like Sercio Carcia or Cameron Champ. In the dowswing they shallow under the plane to get that water skier slingshot effect. Is it maybe same feel like club throwing?
Hi Jukka! This is a move that happened when they were very young; and yes, like you say, when you through the club, you engage the kinetic chain and this is what gives the “arm-club-unit” the extra load on the downswing that results in that nice snap in the direction of the target.
This video is an ace in the pack. It’s the best demonstration of weight transition and hip turn works I’ve seen, combined with a heave the hammer approach, you’ve bit a powerful golf swing.
Right on Adam! We are so happy to be able to bring you this kind of information on human motor skills and movement patterns. Thank you for the terrific feedback!
Hello from Bergen Norway, Thank you for the 1st video on your website! I’m sorry but I did not get the point how to hit a fade/draw. Maybe it’s your language (not my mother tongue/ too much golf slang)? Obviously there are different techniques how to hit a draw and a fade, respectively. Maybe a more pedagogic and clear way is to show the position of your feet and the blade of the golfclub when explaining how to hit a fade. Best greetings Lars from Norway
Hi Lars! Thank you for your comment and feedback! If you go to the videos list, you will see “working the ball” in the “shotmaking” section and then see “fade fine tuning” and “draw fine tuning”
these will clear EVERYTHING up for you as it is one of our best attributes! 😀👍
Does the sequential order of the kenetic chain in the backswing really matter ?
Test day 1 new putting stroke. I’m liking it. 😉
Hmmm. seems to do wonders for my chip shots.
Can it work for pitch shots ? Never hit so many buttery 50 yard consecutive shots on target. Ever !
Could this new sequential order bleed throughout the bag and into my fullswing ?
Test day one hit balls and putted all day. Wow 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 Can’t stop smiling:)
Weight of the club hanging from the shoulder sockets. That weight with the hands and arms starts the takeaway.
Genius pure genius. I’m at a loss for words.
Thank you Shawn
You bet! Just like the Wolff Man! 😀👍
It does not have to be perfect to be good and that is exactly the goal and purpose of this video; to pass on the understanding of how to match backswing to a specific task which will confirm that the practice is moving in the right direction and will eventually pay off. That is more than half the battle right? To know you are moving in the right direction gives you the inner fortitude to follow through! 💪👌🤛
Do you feel the weight of the putter better with one hand more dominate on the grip. I noticed with one handed putting strokes the weight of the putter head is more apparent. I am puting that left hand over the dominant right hand very lightly. It seems like I can feel the weight better especially in the takeaway. Feels like the left is just along for ride. Is this garbage or does it have merit? dunno 🙂
Well, if it feels like one solid block from both shoulder sockets down and you are able to let the arms and putter roll the ball into the picture without interference, then why not?
Shawn.
😂always great memories for our students who practice throwing some clubs!
if the club is going where you want it to go, that is what is important; you will get better as you go so try to practice this once a week! Next is throw and not let go and feel the FULL MEASURE OF THE RELEASE OF THE RIGHT HAND OVER THE LEFT HAND, and then you go with PREDICTION with he “predict contact” and the “goldie locks” series. Rock on! 💪🤛
Right on! It is all about allowing the arm-putter unit to track it’s arc un impeded and with no interference! Just like a stock chip shot wisdom style of course!
Stuck at work today so this is a data collection day. Am I allowed to watch these great videos multiple times ? The idea is to permanently burn this data deep into my brain and purge all the garbage that I have accumulated over the years.
🙂
I noticed on your hybrids swings you took virtually no divot. I had learned to try and take a divot with my fairway woods, which serves a player best sweep or shallow swing or skip and shallow divot?
I saw an interesting demonstration using Trackman while hitting hybrids. In one example, the golfer played the hybrid like an iron with the ball back in his stance and the clubhead angle of attack (AoA) descending at contact. Then, he played the ball slightly more forward, like Shawn does in this video, and struck the ball with a more sweeping motion and an AoA of basically 0.
Both methods produced good results, but the more sweeping motion definitely produced a longer shot, presumably due to less spin. Playing the ball back and hitting down on the ball may be more advantageous if you need to produce a higher shot with more spin that can drop more vertically onto the green and not roll off the back.
