How does shaft weight influence and effect The momentum. Heavier shafts create more ? What effect on “ whipping it through “ ?

    • From Shawn Clement on BLUR OF ARC-IMMOVABLE LOW POINT-UNSTOPPABLE MOMENTUM

Hi Savas! Yes, you bet! I was recommended the tour 120 shaft from True Temper and felt they were too light and went back to my 135 gram S-300 shafts and instantly felt the difference in momentum and compression; it was a pure ahhhhh!
This is why fittings at a place like “Club Champion” are terrific because once they find the club head that suits you, then you try the different shafts to go with it and feel the difference. You want a nice synergy between you and the fitter and he or she really needs to listen to YOU.

Excellent video. First of all, it confirms my choice of not using the logo on the ball anymore, it was really getting in my way.
Now looking at the hole is a very interesting thing that I should explore. I recently started practicing ice hockey (my 9 year old son is a goal keeper, I took some interest in that game, at 44 years old…), and being a right handed golfer I play hockey “left handed”, but more importantly I constantly look at the puck. I realised on my last practice that I pass the puck much better looking at where I want to pass it. Obvious stuff for any hockey player, but for me very hard habit to undo. So I might just apply this to my putting, because trying to match speed and slope isn’t very different to matching puck and playing partner speed.

I really appreciated the commentary over the drone section. It helped me focus on things I might have missed and allowed me into your own thought processes and descriptions while viewing your own swing after the fact. Good stuff!!! Thanks.

Yes! The shank Mu had was a blessing in disguise for me! I tend to have a shank or two during a round then it’s “gotta hit the ball mode”, for me. After seeing this last night i had no shanks today and played with a lot of confidence.

And good grief I bet he can Palm a bowling ball with those catchers gloves for hands! 😂

Lol. Thanks. I guess thats what the Eagle Session means in the title. I’ll upgrade. Just turning 49 and been playing golf since I was 10. I’ve read 100’s of golf books on playing and history and love the game. Followed all the great golf instructors over the years and overloaded my brain with position golf. I used to play great golf in grade school and high school because I didn’t think about positions, I thought about throwing my golf club down the fairway at my target. That was my only thought and I was a 6 handicap going into college. Well to keep a moderately long golfing career story short, I pretty much messed up my game for the past 30 years and struggled to get back to even a 15 handicap. These last two weeks I’ve spent with you, Sav and Moo(Not sure how to spell his short name) have brought me back to high school and my old game. You’re a brilliant golf instructor, coach and communicator and I’m not exactly sure how you evaded my radar. Your explanations of the game and your integration of anatomy and physics are perfect. This game isn’t that hard, you’re right, we just need to do what we are already wired to do. Look forward to one day having the opportunity to get some in person time with you and “nut” some golf balls. Keep being you and thanks for everything so far. Best………….Greg. PS: Pass on my thanks to Sav and Moo as well!

Right on Greg! I know, the waters got pretty muddied on youtube with every instructor trying to get attention; very hard to weed through! 😝. Thank you so much for the terrific message and so many of our members share the same story and this is what keeps me doing what I do. I will forward the message to Sav and Mu (Munashe) 😀👍❤️

  • From [email protected] on SWING PLANE FOR ALL CLUBS

While watching one of your videos on YouTube as usual I am bombarded by advertisements that I usually delete immediately. This one was about a 1 plane swing like moe Norman, which Bryson DeChambeau seems to have adopted. I have been struggling with consistent contact from round to round so I watched a few of the videos on the single plane swing and proceeded to try it out at the range. My contact was great and it seems easier than adapting to different swing planes for different clubs. I will never stray from having a task, intermediate point, and flight plan and I truly believe that you are a golf genius. I proceeded to go to my local GOLFTEC and compare my conventional and 1 plane swings and my consistency and swing speeds were better using the single plane swing. I know that you have videos about Moe that I have watched, but, you have not advocated the single plane swing. Can I adopt a single plane swing while still employing your principles or am I straying into dangerous ground. If you do think that it is reasonable, especially since Bryson seems to be having success adopting it, it would be great having a video explaining your thoughts. Thank you for your response. Hey Joe! Terrific comment and you are finding what works best for you DYNAMICALLY and Munashe is on the same path. You will see the latest ball above and ball below video we just put out on premium and we will be taking a deeper dive on this aspect as many of our WIG players have those tendencies. I do not advocate “single plane” because this definition is not anatomically possible for 99% of humans. What I do advocate is a set up that allows you to DYNAMICALLY deliver THROUGH the ball and into the picture of the flight plan. For Mu, you will see a slow motion view with both angles and will definitely determine that he is closer to the “single plane look”. I do also agree with single length clubs and consider them very valid and wish all companies would offer a version of their product in single length to give more choice for golfers.

    Hi Shawn,
I am a beginner. I can’t remedy this problem: I tend to look up and toward the target, before hitting the ball. Is there a way I can improve my shot.?

    • From Shawn Clement on Grip Update

Yes, you bet! Did you see our beginner series? The key is to stay with your task until it’s done. The best task for you right now is the grass cutting task. See “grass whip training” video and perform the drills in there and become very good at them and you will improve at light speed!

Great video! I think your explanation of Mu’s occasional shanks also explains why I sometimes shank …

“Don’t let it hit me.” This is big to me. When I have been throwing to target, my miss has been having me throw around my body instead of with my body. There is some latent fear of letting my body go, because i think ball will shank out to the right.

To be able to predict exactly what will happen and calm your nerves for the shank, you need some solid references. See “blur of club unstoppable momentum series” and “predict contact” and “the goldie locks series” to know you will deliver a solid strike if you stay on task.

Everyone this is so relevant! I revisit the reason for a strong, relaxed grip every few months just because I know it can change – get “loose” and the club face /swing send me like the ball way off target! If you have the time – the whole series on grip is fantastic!

  • From [email protected] on SWING PATH- ACROSS THE LINE vs LAID OFF

Hi Shawn, how can I self diagnose? As good as Savy’s swing is, you had to tell her that she wasn’t completing the backswing. Same goes for how do I know if I’m steering and if I’m across the line or too laid off without video

    • From Shawn Clement on SWING PATH- ACROSS THE LINE vs LAID OFF

Savy is still running into issues with side vision and is beginning to understand the ill effects of letting the mind trust what it sees from the side, this is especially true when you are trying to perform in a tournament. The ball creeps forward, the body alignment changes to where the shoulders get more open, and the backswing begins to shorten and you start getting a more “over the top look” to the swing.
1-seeing the blur is an essential reference (see arc-blur-unstoppable momentum series)
2-feeling that the backswing will allow you to deliver in the direction you want to start the ball (see matching backswing to target)
