Thank you for this video and the answers to the comments. I like your descriptions of weight of the arm club unit and unshackling the swing. I have often been told I need to try and stop hitting the ball which is a difficult idea to find a place for when moving the ball down the fairway is how the game works. Hitting a ball in the center is such a marvelous feeling. I really wish I could bottle it up. I do like the description of trying to place the ball in the way of my swing. Would you describe the mental task here as steering the arms as they fall toward the intermediate point while allow my body to get out of the way? I am thinking about it too much?

Hey Sam! You would want to watch “blur or club” and all the “arc-blur” videos that come out of the search when you type that in the search box.

Hey Shawn,
I feel this drill will really help me but I have a really hard time moving my trail hand up the shaft and into a normal grip. Does Sav actually go into her normal grip or more of a baseball grip. I use overlap but even that seems hard to complete. I can kindve do it but I’m thinking so much about grip that I lose focus on throwing to target. Thanks

Shawn Clement

Hey Jeff! Great question!
just reunite back into baseball grip at first, much easier that way! Then see how things evolve and see how good of a lumberjack you can become!

Hi Shawn,
For this drill would that be better to have a heavy clubhead? with my golf clubs i can’t feel the weight of the head at the top of the backswing.
thanks 🙂

The axe drill is one of the best. I can relate to that like throwing a sledge hammer against a wall of concrete in my work. The best thing I got from this drill is the bent knees or squat to get ready to heave the unit. Puts me in perfect position on plane everytime and I can even get my interlock grip on the way done.
