I have the throwing motion down once I get it moving. But how do I get it started from a stationary golf stance? Any triggers?

Sébastien EBALARD

Hey Shawn,
It seems that the hammer is so heavy that every part of the arms are moving at the same time whereas in other videos you said to throw there is the a sequence : the elbow first then the fore arm then the wirst then the club.

Ok, if i am getting it right the hammer drill is a good help to feel the kinetic chain engaged in response to the weight of the hammer tool.
Now, other question, is there any task where the body does exactly the same thing as with a golf club?

I did some throwing of old clubs today. The first throw was a pull naturally…The others I got on target but was not throwing as far or as hard as I could, I would say one out of ten. As I practice this should I increase effort? (As long as it’s in a safe place of course) Or just practice the feel. I thinking I should eventually increase effort as it would potentially help with distance/club head speed.

Speaking of engaging the kinetic chain… working on the driver yesterday, I noticed that it is critical for me to grab the ground well before the club reaches the top of the swing, otherwise I tend to clip the ground on the way through the shot. Am I just dealing with timing/rhythm issue? It is clear that there is a difference between the 4 pound hammer and the sledge throwing.

Shawn: I have read/watched about 4 tasks: cutting the dandelion stem, throwing the club, planing a piece of wood, gathering the puck. And I also have the concept of “until the re-hinge” and “focus on the keep out sign.” My question is: assuming that I am on the course, as opposed to doing drills, what do I pick? Or is is picking one that, for whatever reason, makes sense for that day?
Thank you

Thank you. It is raining heavily today. So I am going to an abandoned cricket field near my house. I will have a hat, COVID mask and gloves, carrying two hammers and old clubs. If the police pull me in for questioning, I will call you rather than my lawyer!!!:)
