Hi Shawn,
just confirming, your left hand grip, the club went straight down nestled at the base of the fingers, what had been taught to me was a diagonal grip starting at the first fold of the index finger down to the life line and then close the hand. Is this something that I should reconsider?

Shawn Clement

When doing the grip, what is important is feeling that you have a secure hold on the club through the whole swing; which one feels better and more secure when doing the perpetual motion drill and which one allows you to fully release like in the lead hand and trail hand release videos as well as the “important release update video?

Hi Shawn, I’m left handed. I broke the little finger and ring finger of my right hand. I’m now unable to fully bend my little finger so I can’t wrap it around the golf club. My grip strength is weak without my little finger. It feels like the club may slip out of my hands if I swing too hard. Do you have any advice / ideas on how I could hold the club to make it feel more secure. Thank you for your time…Kevin

Hi Shawn. I have a 10 finger grip and I’ve had the odd “short circuit”. Is it because the hands aren’t as close together? It seems the short circuit happens with the right hand padding over the left hand thumb. I am loathe to change to another grip style but if I have to I will. Any thoughts or tips?

Shawn Clement

The 10 finger grip is completely fine; what matters is that you have FUNCTIONALITY in the hinge and release and that you feel it stays intact through the swing. Any grip will move on an off centre hit and the club will turn and shift in the hands when this happens. If you are able to make it through all the “release” videos without it moving, you are good!
