Shawn, why is my swing bottom almost at my back foot rather than more centered between my feet? Is this from not getting my weight shifted to my front leg, or something else?
Go to the ‘feet together drill” video and see where you bottom out with that one!
If your trail arm fires too soon the clubhead will bottom out too early. Focus on swinging your lead hand through the ball and into the follow through.
Hey Mitch! The feet together drill has a section in the video where we talk about the “catapult effect” of the return of the butt away from the target as a counter balancing self preserving act. This effect pulls the arms and club through the ball and takes the arms out of the equation. The other videos I would point you to would be the “kinetic chain series” and the “kinetic chain engagement series” which will continue to drive the point home that the human machine will falter when you focus on body parts and develop to it’s full potential when delivering a “self preserving task” to a specific direction.
The dandelion swing thought has helped with the outcome for the proper ball flight direction. But it appears if I only use the momentum of the downward gravity of the club, the distance needed to travel to the target; there is not enough energy for the ball to fly to the task. My question is there any advice on how to ADD some extra energy to the ball “dandelion” so the distance needed is obtained? For example, say the dandelion stem is 1/4 inch thick and it is made out of steel? One more silly question: Should you maintain the same whipping speed for all your clubs?
Thank You! Duffer Dave
Hey Dave!
See the “club speed” video on premium; this will help a ton!
Is there a video where you explain what you mean by cutting the dandelion?
You bet!

Aha moment! Since working on these swing techniques I’ve hit an occasional shank. However, I think I finally grasped how to set the machine with distance to the ball and that varies with length of club and gravitational pull. Can’t wait to implement this. I have a feeling I’ll discover more of this in the Goldilocks series.
Yessir!!!! You got it!
Hi Shawn, does the same rules apply if your back has an s shape. Lower back goes in at the lower part. Don’t have a straight back.
Yes, you are bending from the hips which are below the sacrum-tailbone;
So the natural curve in the spine is unchainged and not strained;
If you are doing Physio to help it, leave it to your therapist to figure out those details; here you are looking for the path of least resistance to perform a task.
Hi Shawn, can I ask about posture if you have a natural curvature in lower back. Also getting into posture seems OK. Struggle to get in right tilt, seems I can’t get right hand V to right shoulder. Won”t stay there. Any help will be great. Damian
Well, the key is to go ahead and make your grip with a closed face and then get into the tilt where the hands will rotate away from the target, the club will appear more square and you will be ready to “hammer” towards the target; let the club release in the direction you want it to start and SEE WHAT HAPPENS; leave the grip alone and allow things to happen so your brain can internalize the new and strange feel!
