Love this series. Where can I learn about the trap draw that Sav refers to in the video?
There are quite a few that will help with that; see “eagle exclusive Savy getting better AOA and Lag” then “2 tee drill with Perpetual motion” then “downhill shots with unstoppable momentum” and “kinetic chain arc-blur combo chip and pitch” to get you started! 😀👍
There is something in my swing that has been troubling me. If you observe the 90° left arm club shaft relationship of any pga tour pro the 90° angle is maintained well into the downswing. It is maintained to a point until the hands reach the trail thigh. I have also noticed tour pros have much greater shaft lean thru the collection area. This would explain that low ball flight that pros have when compared to amateurs. I don’t believe I am casting but I am surely lacking this arm clubshaft relationship which all good ballstrikers achieve. I am hitting very solid repeatable shots but I feel there is more power to be gained. After closely watching this video I feel this has been confirmed.
Thank yinz #1
Right on Mike! Love the reflections you make; you are a true soul golfer and we can read the passion you have for the game in your words! 👍👌
This is magic! I’ve always felt like the one handed move hitting the tee is a great reminder of just letting my hand-eye coordination (athleticism) take over! I try to do this while waiting on the tee box just to remind me of everything you presented in this golden video!
Thank you for bringing attention to that one man! That little exercise really has the essence of the golf action from the mind-body-witness perspective. You are simply a witness to the club being placed by the g-forces of the swing and the brain is aware of the action about to collect the tee on the grass and FEELS NO NEED TO INTERFERE! Magic indeed!!! 👍👌😀
Hey Shawn. Thanks for another great video. I’m a lefty and have been fiddling with my setup , maybe a little too much. I notice that Sav has her hands/club unit leaning forward significantly. Is that the recommended lean. Some teach that the setup should be a straight line. I’m a 10 handicap and I’m struggling with my irons. I’m inconsistant in finding the green on my second shot and I think this is a big reason why.
Hi Michael! The key is to GET READY TO PERFORM A SPECIFIC TASK INTO A SPECIFIC DIRECTION. Some have and need stronger grips than others and this will affect the “look” of the set up at address. What Savy is doing is getting ready to throw her club through the arc-blur into the direction she want to start the ball. Can you see that her body language is facilitating this readiness to deliver that way?
Thank you Shawn. That makes sense and I just went and practiced with your advice in mind. May I ask, does Sav set here club in alignment first and then get ready by moving her hands forward? I ask because the club head opens with the forward lean. Does it close to its original position through the arc?
The grip club relationship is a reaction to the action-prediction to target. She chooses the appropriate flight plan, then the intermediate point and when approaching the ball, she is already feeling the action of the release based on the flight plan and is preparing the distance to ball, ball position, grip-club relation and levels based on that. Once the grip club is in place, that is it! Whatever it looks like at address is what it looks like. Understand as well that what you see from your end looking down at the club is very different than what you would see when you look in the mirror! The important thing here is, when she stays with her task come heck or high water, the mind knows the ball will do in the air what she planned it to do.
also see “the goldie-locks series” and “predict contact” videos to help with this answer! 😀👍
Hi Shawn.
Again an awesome video.
In the moment with mile markes and staying balanced the consitency goes through the roof.
I have a different question though. How much does the temperature affect the distance?
I built a little driving range at my company i work. It has a roof, but it is outside. The temperatures are now close to zero, and my distance drops dramatically. It is measured by my swing caddy. My club headspeed is the same, but it shows way less carry. For example my 8 iron with about 80-82 mph swing speed shows, at the cool temperatures, just 120 – 125 m carry. Normally it is about 145 m carry. That is normally my PW. It this legit?
yours Christoph
Hi Christoph! Yes! The temperature where the ball goes best begins at 77 F or about 23 degrees Celsius. Close to 0 will definitely have an impact on distance as the ball will not compress and release off the face as quickly! Also, slightly off centre strikes will even be worse too!
