Great video Shawn. I have couple of questions though. You mentioned that with short irons and wedges you can’t slice the ball because of the loft. Starting with what loft you can start fading the ball more an more? 27- degrees? . also, you mentioned that you open the face slightly. I already have a very strong grip, can you explain what slightly means? how much?
Hi Alfredo! See “the goldie locks series” and adjust based on the flight that you see; some of my students actually have to close the face more for fades and many just keep the same grip-club relation as the draw; truly surprising! You need to see for yourself! And yes, 30 degrees is a good start for seeing some movement without loosing too much distance.
Is the face open? Is is the face and the stance open?
Hey Shawn! Just answered the driver question for you; what you need to see is the “predict contact” and the “goldie locks series”. EVERYONE IS DIFFERENT when it comes to face closure, and the way through it is in those videos; enjoy!!
Hi Shawn, In fading my Driver and hybrids does the club face have more influence on the starting direction? My Fades are becoming too much slice and if I aim more left with my feet it just slices more. Thanks.
Perfect example of a club face that is too open to begin with; some of my students need to CLOSE the face MORE than the draw with the fade. It is really blowing a lot of myths wide open!!
Great video as always. Just an observation, we cannot actually make out the color of the poles or distant flags from the video. We can usually work it out from your description.
Thanks Tim! Will keep that in mind. When doing live lessons online, my students tell me they see them but on video it is a bit different it seems…
Hi Shawn when you are setting up for fade do your feet stay lined up straight to your intermediate point out front and you swing left of point for fade right for draw with open or close face depending on draw or fade ,not sure if feet alignment is same as your swing path or diff. Not clear in video to me . Thanks.
Hey Barry! The camera can fool us a bit on that one; did you see the latest “shawn’s Favourite drill” and then the “tilt vision” Shawn’s Favourite drill”?
