How much of the up and down motion of the body contributes to the swing momentum?
Does the lowering of the body from the tops pull the arm-club unit down and through and the standing up at the 2nd half of the downswing contribute to the momentum?
We talked back in the fall. One arm/ one leg golfer that uses the 1 leg drill for his main swing setup. My issue is finding correct ball position. As my lead shoulder is the center of my swing. So the ball feels like it’s wants to be in line directly in front of my foot give or take ie out by the toes vs inside the ankle. I’m not sure if this is correct.
It occurred to me while doing PMDs that the braced tilt feels just like middle of the return swing. Since we’re starting centered – not in motion – we preset the return arc/backswing. Is that true/correct?
your address position is like a moment in time in the PMD, your arms are already tracking g forces on the arc that matches the flight plan and the body is already in the process of getting out of the way of these tracking arms. So I am 60-40 at address and then actually going even more into the left side and up, right heel slightly up, and then returning into the backswing by planting the pressure into the right foot to clear the body out of the way of the tracking arms into the backswing, then nananana-transition back into the left side from behind and kinetic chain engages for the target bound journey.
Yes! Love the way you explained that. This is an amazingly illuminating reality. Thank you! I really enjoy how everything you teach harmonizes together. It has opened pathways to self-discovery; so key for me.
I just added fall-fall to my PMDs and Goldilocks’d it in my chipping practice. New levels of the swing are unlocked forever. I’m about to take it to the course.
I’m a musician and I can hear fall-fall in my head like a metronome. Works great for tempo!
I forget where that is; but the gist is to place the eyes in the zone in front of the ball and on the level the driver will be rising up and through and wait to see the blur of club pass through that zone!
I am trying to keep the ball in the rear view mirror with all my shots including putting. Yesterday, I found myself looking at the ground with the driver resulting in errant shots. When I decided to just cut the grass I stayed behind the hit and my distance and height improved. Today, I will try and see if I can keep my eyes at the right level on the driver.
Amazing video. I’m watching that rhythm series right now as get some PMDs in on my porch on rainy Washington day. This is major cornerstone stuff!
I took “fall-fall” as my tempo mechanism to the course yesterday and hit some of my best shots ever. Especially around the green – two effortless sand saves, which is a new feat for me.
I’m starting to sense that “and” to kickstart the swing and get into that moment in the PMD + a short two syllable word might work for me. Draw out the first syllable for the takeaway and then say the second at transition. Something like hellllll-oo.
What’s a drill to focus on intermediate point in downswing? If I do a blind swing it’s easy to concentrate on intermediate point but difficult in open eye swing.

Just set this station up in the backyard net setup. WOW – ‘straight’ feels 30 degrees right, but the ball just skims the right side of the alignment stick about 5 feet in front of me. This likely explains my left miss lately
