What an amazing video? You explain things to make it alot simpler. That 2 tee drill is a drill you can do at home. Thank you!!

    Hi Shawn,
I am hitting balls into a net using a Garmin g80 what should I be concentrating on the carry or the roll out?

I always look at the carry when hitting shots on the GC Quad; I would do the same with your unit; Shawn

    Greeting Shawn,
Through the years I’ve been one that has looked at way too many different sources for golf instruction. It was easy to become confused with conflicting information out there. I’m really going to make an effort to stick with your instruction and stay away from other sources.

I’m starting to see some improved ball striking with irons and am getting to the point where I can once again start to work the ball both with a fade and draw. It is amazing how many times on the course that I catch myself blacking out. Black Out = less than desirable shot every time. Although the misses are much better now.

I’m still struggling to create clubhead speed with minimal effort. I’ve gotten back to 110 mph with the driver, but the strain level is really high to get there.

I still seem to be confused regarding how to use my legs for power. It seems like when I try to utilize my legs more I think I’m early extending more. Any wisdom on how to use the legs without getting back to early extension?

I agree entirely Mickey there is such a thing as too much information. Stick to one good source and non better than Shawn. As an artist I am inspired by many painters. I have hundreds of books and probably 30 DVDS but if you are not careful this can lead to confusion as all artists have their own way. Studying the working methods of too many people in art can delay your progress and so it seems with golf instruction. I am returning to golf after many years absence but I am determined from the outset to stick with Shawn who after all covers all aspects of the game and learning process brilliantly.

      You bet!
The key is staying with the delivery of the action towards the target; see “throwing the club” and practice this in a safe area; a nice open field or clearing in the woods. Get some old clubs from a second hand sport store with nice steel shafts and slick grips, they are great to throw. Allow the legs to come and evolve on their own; they will support and ready the body for the throw. See the “throwing series” videos on premium for all clubs. Enjoy!

Hi Shawn – I love the second technique that you demonstrated by using the putting grip with the toe of the club, when the ball is sitting on the tall grass around the green. Is it also possible to use this same technique with a less lofted club as a bump-and-run a little further off the green (where you might need a bit more roll out)?

Yessir! You can use any club you want around the greens!! All you need is where you want to land the ball and goldie locks! 😀👍

I was working my drives and noticed that I was getting quite consistent drives with allowing the head to come slightly up at the top of the backswing… then, down.. as I grab the ground and then back up… so the head would seem to bop.. up, down, up through the full swing. Is this right?

      Yes-yes-yes-!!!! Ohhh yes!!
We are built for this!! See “the walking drill” and see when walking, the head comes up and down but the grass cutting remains very, very accurate and true!

So how strong or week your grip is depend on ball flight? And also as long as it’s a tight grip where things are not moving around? My grip was sort of neutral but I really like the feel of a stronger grip.. now it’s a matter of not snap hook it.

Have a look at the “predict contact” and “the goldie locks” series; then see “fade fine tuning” and “draw fine tuning”
Important details about confirming that you have fully released through the ball and out into the picture before you can make any modifications to the grip-club relationship!

8:20 to 8:30 is golden and is one of my faults. I find that trail elbow gets lazy and ends up to the side of my trail hip . I hit my best shots when I drive it and get it in front. This premium channel rocks.
    Thank yinz

Hey Shawn, I have been giving the one arm swings a try. Around 8.30 you mention keeping your elbow tucked at address, when you backswing the elbow stays tucked right? Cheers

Hi Shawn, great video! I noticed in this drill that it is very important for me to concentrate on my weight shifting to my back heel, and then transferring weight to the front with trail leg shifting from inside so that I can get the feel of trail elbow coming from the inside going out. I have a tendency to transfer wight when I shift to the front back foot instead of from the inside back heel – which causes me to get stuck and pull ball and lose power. Hope that makes sense. And this drill helps that were the lead arm release doesn’t focus on that.

Shawn – you talk about your downswing feel with the driver, more horizontal and flat. How does your backswing feel? Is it more flat too with a driver?

Yes, but that is for your understanding; the key is to see where the “BLUR OF CLUB” wants to circulate and to respect and give it some space! See “blur of club” and “arc blur of club unstoppable momentum” video.

Great video Shawn. First off. I’m a new suscriber, I’ve been devouring your Premium videos over the past 2 months, but have deeply syudied your videos in the past half year. It’s made such difference (I have gone from shooting 90+ to 80s). Thank you so much and keep doing what you’re doing.

Back to the video. I’ve tried both lead hand and trail hand release. I have a very dominant trail hand (right) and have decided to go with this. What seems to work well is the pull through to release. I got it from your Push or Pull in the golf swing YouTube video. Contact is great. Just have difficulty controlling the direction a bit even if I do my best to swing to target. Do you have anything on pulling the club through on the Premium channel or do you plan to? It was night and day for me and the missing piece. Any help would be great. All the best, Richard from Budapest.

Hi Richard! You will see “how to stop pushing with the right hand” which is a very good video on how to rely on the kinetic chain to pull everything through. Which leads us to “the kinetic chain series” which is what you want to see next! Enjoy!

Shawn you frequently refer to the weight of the arm club unit. I often don’t feel that weight. Are there drills we can do to appreciate that feeling?

See our “how to use the weight in your swing-axe drill with Savy” and perform the axe drill and hit shots with it; it will get you that understanding and you will love the feel!

Hi Shawn, I watched this video 3 times.

I have a problem seeing where the ball is when you are hitting the fade. Is it at your left toe?? When I do that i hit a really bad hook. Are you adjusting the club face?? your shoulders??? your feet ??? Can’t see it in your setup.

So is your club face slightly open for the draw. Then you release the club to hit the draw??

I can hit a draw but I have to close the club face to do it.

Just can’t see how you can fade the ball with the ball so far out in front of you.

Sorry for all the questions but it just doesn’t seem clear.

I have watched the posture & setup series, the Chamblee series, release videos and many more but I just can’t see it.

    Cheers and thank you

Is there a chance I can get an answer to this one?

Sorry! Sometimes one falls through the cracks!
      So to make it simple:
Fade you aim left of target, swing left of target, ball in a position that allows it to start left and grip-club face is just DYNAMICALLY OPEN ENOUGH for the ball to curve back to target.
See “fade fine tuning” and “the goldie locks series” for back up!
      Shawn
