There is no way they can! Too fast for the eyes. You are simply letting momentum swing through the arc blur you preview seeing at address and you wait till you see the blur pass through the ball and intermediate point into the flight’s direction and then let the right shoulder bring the head up where the eyes can rejoin the ball in flight.
Hey Shawn, i’m having trouble with my woods and hyrides with a skipping a stone feeling> I tend to come down a bit steep and thump with my woods. Any tips for getting that more shallow stone skimming feeling?
1. Cause you can just read Savy’s face and feel the frustration. I hate it for her, but I KNOW IT SO WELL! It’s nice to relate and see that there can be progress.
2. I have, what I think, such a hard time releasing the club face. Not sure I finish my turn, hold the l face open, or a combo. I’m curious when your hands are passing through to your left thigh to center of body (left handed swing) is it supposed to feel like the bottom outside pad of my right hand is passing through the ball then releasing (milliseconds) or is it more of the back of my right glove hand?
Hey Rusty! Do the test with the “golf swing has 2 pendulums” series as well as the “jackknife series” when you do these in slow motion in the downswing until your left index finger gets past the ball. Also, in the last lesson we did together, you will notice that when you get to the point where the hands past the ball and then you let the second pendulum release in slow motion, you see the approach from the inside and downwards, and you will also notice your head cannot be in front of the ball when this is going on which centres the swing and anchors the release past the ball and into the flight plan. The ultimate COLLECT THE BALL FROM WHERE IT LIES and RELEASE THE BALL INTO THE FLIGHT PLAN.
There’s a short moment where Sav has the club in her right hand and is swinging it. It clicked off so many things for me! I went to the range and it brought together a bunch of elements – getting the ground, bracing, throwing the club and that feeling of the club releasing past the ball…… I really felt it with the driver and it is so awesome!!!! Now just have to get all this feels with two hands on the club and the ball in the way, lol.
Shawn, I tried this task this morning
It helps me to be more patient in transition.
I feel my arm club unit floating longer and then I’m able to pull it thanks to the clearing of my left side
Less effort with my arms, more lag
Can’t wait to show you this next month !
My 58 degree lob wedge. Full swing is 100 yards. 100 feet apex and 11 000 to 12 000 RPM backspin and about 1000 RPM left side spin for the draw. At 60 yards, the spin is about 8000 RPM
with this pitching technique of the 3rd type where you have fold and hinge what would be max distance you get out of 52 degree? i.e what distance do you just hit a full type shot where your going for full lag and less spin? what distance does your short game end and long game begin?
Hi Paul! Great question! The answer will come with Goldilocks! Do a practice swing that is way too soft, another that is way too strong, then find a nice in between. Confirm through prediction where each one would end up to sharpen the process.
Definitely a problem here, we did a major update on the site and this one definitely dis not go through. Come back in a couple days and we will get it back in here. Shawn
Hi Lance! Many factors involved. The driver type you use is very key, you want to use the low spin LS heads from different manufacturers the the Contact on the club face, centre to slightly above centre and a nice upwards angle of attack and full release so that the spin to the right is less than 200 RPM
What kind of driver do you have? You can get with Mu to optimize your driver at https://www.wzdmnmvmt.com as he can recommend the right driver and shaft and help you polish your technique to optimize your driver numbers!
To me this is still the best drill/task in your arsenal. I signed up premium 4 yrs ago and all your teachings transformed my game. But, late last year I had to stop playing for over a month and when I came back something was very wrong. Before, everything seemed so effortless and I thought I’d never lose my swing again. I decided to resubscribe to find my way again. Backswing looks and feels good but I believe I lost that “using weight of arm/club unit” and instead of shifting weight from behind was shifting/sliding to front foot causing wide open face at impact. I feel if I concentrate on “throwing” the club that goes away naturally but if you have any other video suggestions to help with this sliding towards the target on downswing that be great. Believe it or not I even slide my hips on the feet together drill. I do hit good shots, but 2 of 10 I slide. Probably just losing focus of the task and need more reps to ingrain it again. Thanks again
Right on and yes, I have the best one here called the “kinetic chain facilitation and engagement series” and when you get to #6, practice that till the cows come home and perfect that! You can’t sway in wither direction when doing this.

Hey Shawn, loving the instruction so far and I am really glad I joined the premium site here. My question is: is it or would it be ok to leave the thumb of my lead hand on the side of the club? Like when you gripped the hammer and the baseball bat? When I do that and then interlock my trail hand and lead hand together, everything feels really tight and secure. I didn’t know if this would hinder my progress. Thanks again for all the great instruction!
Hi Thomas! Not a problem! In fact, Francis Ouimet won the US open with that grip! Several of my students benefit from it as everyone is different with their abilities to connect with the club. Sounds to me like you are getting a good connection, and if it feels like you can load and get a good release feel with it, that is gold!
I’ve been a new member for less than a month and I’ve already had great results with your lessons (a nice +2 scorecard and a competition won against all odds). BUT, I had way more topped shots than usual. So I’m keeping in mind the tip to look just in front of the ball, rather than at the top of the ball. Thanks!
Yes, the Task 2.0 series is great for that, also, when you see the “kinetic chain facilitation and engagement series #6, you realize that when you focus on using momentum to send grass divots towards the target, you always take grass from the centre of the stance forward. The drone view from overhead shows this nicely!
Is it your trying to squeeze or compress the ball up against the face and have ball shoot over intermediate point or trying and direct momentum of clubhead over IP after compression?
See Task 2.0 series. Many different ways to look at it!
what matters is that the action you choose delivers your action THROUGH THE BALL and into the Flight plan past the intermediate point.
Used the feet together drill on course today and drove 290 yds on 3 holes to my amazement. My average drive is 250 yds. My playing partners and I was absolutely stunned. I may start playing feet together permanently. LOL! Thanks for this great video Shawn.
The cool part is you can always go to that as immediate back-up and play awesome golf! We are going to do a couple videos on the course to show that this year and have a blast with it! 👍👊
