Shawn, loving all your videos, they really get me to “feel” my swing which is what I have always needed to do to play better golf. The technical stuff just gets me all messed up. I follow almost everything in this video series, but what is the “feel” you are going for when you say “levitate”? I can feel the left pec starting the heave, and then I feel the hinge, but what do you mean by feeling it levitate?
Very important!! When you get ready to jump up onto something like when you jump up on top of a rock or boulder, you use the swing of the arms upwards to do this right? Same applies here in the backswing; other players who do this well are Bubba, Jack, Tom Watson, Justin Thomas, Fred Couples, Davis Love etc…see some of those swings in the backswing!
Hey Shawn – I am doing my assigned homework (and loving it) and watching these videos. What are the three dots and how do I get some? I know that you are aiming off of them, but I always line up stones or whatever is lying around – the black dots would be way better. My home mat has nothing. and I rotate it for wear so I would want to put the dots on all 4 corners 🙂 Thanks, Andy
Where can I find a video of you explaining the dandelion cutting?
Go to the “top 3 tasks shawn clement” and on youtube, see “grass whip training series shawn clement”
Shawn – I struggle keeping my weight inside my right foot during the backswing. Feet together drill helps with the feel, but I inevitably roll the back ankle when my feet are apart. I’m a tall golfer, and some folks tell me my stance is too narrow. The wider I stand, the less hip rotation I feel.
See my “sledge hammer stop swaying shawn clement” video on youtube; then see “best downswing weightshift shawn clement” which unblocks the mental barrier of the UNDERSTANDING on how the weight shifts from the right to the left in the downswing; Shawn
Thank you! This drill forces me to use my lower body to move the upper body (something I’ve heard before, but never fully understood). My back foot was firmly planted in the ground, and doesn’t sway at all.
Super deluxe!!😀👍
Hi Shawn,
Thank you for the great backswing series.
I’m so used to not letting my lower body turn. that it is really hard to me freely and completely to turn.
What also interests me is that you say that the transition happens from behind you.
what do you mean exactly? Could you maybe make a video about it?
Thank you
Philipp
I have an oldie but goodie about this one; and it is such an important stepping stone of understanding from where you were to where you want to ALLOW YOURSELF to be. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0CSHqnYNijw
And on premium, you want to see the “walking drill” to bring this all together without thought!
Thanks Shawn.
I watched the oldie. Great one.
So from behind you means the transition happens in the backswing, right?
Correct;
The way the brain seeks to initialize that kinetic chain is very much like a baseball hitter or pitcher; or a backhanded frisbee throw; or a 2 hand backhand in tennis down the line.
