Do you still stay behind the ball when hitting the fade?

Shawn Clement

Yes, absolutely! Otherwise you are setting yourself up for block fades and double crosses!

Is the only difference between a push and a draw that the face was square to the inside out path instead of relatively closed, or are there other factors?

reesdoctor@gmail.com

Sean, Please can you describe the ball positions with driver for a fade and a draw. Is it still off the lead instep or do you alter for draws and fades? By the way my best shots appear to be going dead straight but I love your instruction and enjoying the continuous learning process with Wisdom in Golf!!

Shawn Clement

Good stuff! The approach with ball position is much more about the “fit” into the flight plan; you set up using the intermediate point and then “predict” which ball position will allow you to swing freely into the direction you want to start the ball. See “the goldie locks” series for that one. This prediction process is what removes the need to guide or steer or interfere with the shot and let the “unstoppable momentum” move through. Hi Shawn, I was viewing your working the ball again and I thought I heard you have to release to your target and I thought withold breaking my wrist and walla my indoor seven iron speed went up. So I went to the driving range and my irons and fairway woods were launching but my driver was pop up – under the ball no matter if I address of 5 inches behind only level with ball but not a good drive

Later played a round with this and got my first hole in one with a draw on a 150 yard par 3 but my driver didn’t work at all till I gave up

Awesome Larry! A great stepping stone with the driver to smooth things out is use the ground as a training aid and just tee the ball up enough so that when you follow the ground with the sole of the club like a fairway wood, the ball will meet the centre of the face. So tee up an inch tops!

Hey Shawn, we you setup for the draw or fade is the club face aimed at your target and then your feet and shoulders aimed in the direction you want to start the ball? I’m a little confused on the target alignment for the draw when you say in the video that if you want to hit the ball to the flag you aim at the flag? Is that club face?

Shawn Clement

NEVER THE FACE. ball position-alignment-path and then face is adjusted DYNAMICALLY based on action to target. See “predict contact” “goldie locks series” “draw fine tuning” and “fade fine tuning”
