Hey Shawn, I just got a swing caddy and really can’t get it to click past around 75mph setting even though my driver swing can get up to 105 at times. It’s really opened my eyes to the fact that I’m not using my trail leg much for ground forces but even with that knowledge I still can’t get it to click at anything past 75 or above. Any tips or drills that will help?

Shawn Clement

Hey Frank! Wow, this is a new one! What is the device you use to determine 105 MPH?

The simulator was a Uneekor EYE XO. Not sure how accurate it is to be honest but i used a Trackman last year and got up to 98mph with driver on there. I was able to get the swing caddy to click once in the 80s but only once and for the life of me can’t repeat it.. lol

Those are both good simulators; many of my students use them and they work very well! Get some WD 40 and put a couple drops in there; maybe it’s a bit sticky; one of our units was sticking a bit after a while and that is what was recommended. Then start at 60 MPH and get the thing clicking and work your way up. Send me a clip of you hitting a 7 iron and then swinging the unit.

Hey Shawn, you were right. It was sticky and the WD40 helped. I can now get it to click all the way up to 100 but not consistently yet so hoping to work on that this off season. It seems that I have to really let the club pull away from the shoulders and have lots of tone to get it clicking at higher speeds.

Shawn Clement

Good stuff! Now we have confirmation! 😀👍👌

Hi Shawn,

Quick question on the Swing Caddy. Let’s say you can click it at 100mph. Should that then be your feel for all full swings irons and driver? Or do you need to adjust based on the club you are using?

Shawn Clement

The purpose of the swing caddy is to feel that use of the G-forces in the swing and how the legs eventually start pushing off the ground to deliver more pull to the arm-club unit away from the shoulder sockets and towards the direction you want to start the ball; it has been and is still a great ally in achieving a certain feel in the swing that is anti-manipulation and anti strain from the arms because you need to have some good ground reaction forces to get it to click. See “turbo charge the lead hand and trail hand release” videos as well as the “pumping up the swing” and “pumping up the volume” videos.

Sean, I cannot locate your pro shop to make a purchase. Please help! Thanks.

Been working through the Senior Series and just spent about a half hour in the 40 degree Michigan weather throwing some clubs. Filmed it at 240 FPS too. Very enlightening.

Have been following Shawn since about 2012 I think, and purchased his original series way back then. It helped me to shoot in the mid 80s until about 2015 when I stepped away from golf. Now retired and getting back into golf with a goal to break 80 and going to use Wisdom in Golf to get there. Right now working on getting some club head speed, but if I am being honest with myself, my swing needs a complete revamp. I toyed with a Single Plane Swing for a bit this summer, but it felt to restrictive so I decided to go back to following Shawn’s advice as it resonates well with me…and I feel somewhat like a clean slate.

Anyway, what I picked up on today, was I never really got the concept of an intermediate point…until today that is. I thought I had the target as my goal, but I was trying to hit the ball – no question. Flipping at the ball for the most part. It did not take long to get the club going to the target using the techniques shown in the video. I don’t take a huge backswing, but it is about what Shawn does, but I never really engaged with my legs. Staying pretty level through the swing and not generating any power. I have a way to go no question, but already I see more lag and hands moving to the target when I threw some clubs. So I am feeling very positive. Also purchased the Swing Caddie. Even though I do have a GC3 and can measure club head speed, I need something like the swing caddie to help me get the right movements needed to get effortless power.

Going to be an interesting winter and I am looking forward to working with Shawn to hone my swing. On to the next video.

Hi Shawn,
I watched a few of your YouTube videos and went down the rabbit hole… haha. Recently started the premium program and Just tried throwing the club drill… MY FIRST THROW ENDED UP WAY LEFT ON TOP OF MY GARAGE (LMFAO). I will keep watching your videos and keep you posted on my progress( currently about a 13 handicap and trying to crack 80). Thanks for your enthusiasm on all your videos. I can tell you are one of the good coaches out there.

Hi Juan! LOL!! Keep doing it until you get it going to target and record face on when you do; you will be delighted with what you see! 👍😀
