One thing I find most interesting with throwing in relation to the swing is that when I “throw” a draw it feels like I have to be trying to throw the club up into the clouds for it to release parallel to the ground. Otherwise a draw comes out very low and skips off the ground about 10 feet in front of me. Throwing a fade it seems much easier to get height on my throw. Not really sure why this is. Is it the “football” vs “javelin” release?

Went and practiced some more after watching one of the other throw the club videos. In that one you said, “Feel like the club is coming out of both your shoulders.”. With this in mind the throw to the target was much more distinct. My previous feel of having to “throw into the clouds” for a “draw” was gone and the perception was much more natural. Accuracy was much better too! Only one throw was more than a few feet off line.

Hi Shawn, my question is about “throwing the club” or “ letting the club fall” . I’m getting really good results when I simply let the club fall and get out of the way. However when I think about throwing the club I put a bit more speed into it and get quite a bit more distance, but am not so consistent and even had a couple of unmentionables 😱. I’m a qualified tennis coach so it feels a bit like when I’m demonstrating a serve it goes in nicely but in a match it’s not going to produce any aces and I need to put a bit more oomph into it. Advice please.

Gotcha!! Thanks Shawn, that I can do.

Hi Shawn,

The throw series has really helped my swing and I had the best range session yet this summer after practicing throwing clubs. I watched one of your latest Golf WRX videos on your YouTube channel about using a diagonal stance to help support the swing to get better dynamic draws and fades. That change is money and has enabled me to work the ball like never before. You mentioned in the video you were going to get into more detail on using that stance on the premium channel. Is that topic in the works soon? So looking forward to learning more about that. Thanks Shawn for getting it on the shelf where folks like me can reach it. It’s been so fun seeing the weekly improvement and enjoying as you say that “bliss on a stick” feeling.

here’s a sample; have to turn the volume off because of the goofy audio https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C-wJI5eFiws

Nice spiral! A lot of wisdom in this video, as usual. As someone who likes to watch good swings, I would like to see you post that 3 iron video in slo-mo with say 10 or 20 repeats back to back in FO and DTL separately. Same for the driver. There is a korean youtube channel that does that and its fun to watch.
