After watching a bazillion of these videos and practicing a lot, I’m finally, finally, finally getting my body to move the release later so that the club comes into contact squarely when using the “strong” grip method. Up till now, I’ve been getting a huge hook or hitting the ground way before the ball. But I think it’s finally gelling. Hopefully it’s a permanent change in my swing.

A question – when I’m chipping and doing short/mid pitch shots that don’t require power, I still find that I’m getting better results with a more “conventional” swing because I have a smooth/comfortable rhythm that way. Is this going to cause problems with my long game swing?

Scott Carter

What made it finally connect? I’m in a similar spot to where you were previously 😁

Hey Shawn! I started doing this recently (3 handicap) and it’s really improved my game. I was tired of the right miss and it completely cured that problem.
I’m about 3 or 4 weeks into this grip change now and I am hooking the ball off the face of the earth and can no longer hit my irons high… any advice for me ?? I’ve tried the Goldilocks rule but I can’t even open my face slightly anymore without it slicing. I can’t seem to find the happy middle ground again!

Thanks in advance from Oregon

Shawn Clement

You bet! It’s a combination of 3 items:
1-Have you been working of the release videos? (lead hand, trail hand, important release update?)
2-are you feeling the release of the club past the intermediate point into the direction of flight?
3-Are you letting momentum release you in the direction you want to start the ball?

videos:
-all the release videos
-target confirmation series
-goldilocks series (ball position-distance to ball-grip and club face-levels for full prediction before you swing)
-alignment reload
-blur of club
-arc-blur unstoppable momentum series
-CONTACT MILE MARKERS (to make sure you are not OVER TILTING BEHIND THE BALL

Robinson Parker

Thank you! I’ll check it out!

Thanks!! After watching the release video the feeling for me is having the toe get more vertical in the backswing and it fixed all of my problems!!

You guys are the best

Shawn Clement

Great stuff Robinson! 😀👍

This hammer drill has been such a light bulb moment for me. My last practice session and game – it’s encouraged my body into the good dynamic impact position! I’ve pasted some drives today. I even hit a 3 iron 225yds which for me is so long even slightly wind assisted.

Shawn Clement

Ahhh Money!! 👍👌💪

Two things. I’m noting that when Munashe opens his hand after gripping the handle of the bat that the handle runs perpendicular to the hand and closer to the thumb (almost center of the palm) than I’m used to holding my grip, is that right? I was taught to wrap the fingers first and then the palm which if gripped this way and hand opened would have the club running slightly diagonal from the first knuckle of the index finger to the base of the pinky. Also, I too like Munashe have meat hooks and my thumb protrudes slightly out of my v of the right hand when gripping the club in the manner the video has. Is that correct?

Jonathan Fleming

Yes, the reason I asked is because I too have long fingers like Munashe so if that’s something that works for him it might for me.

What is the “Picture” that you mention “hitting it into the picture”, for the longest time i thought that they were the boxes you made behind the nets where you aim.

amarjot Bedi

I experienced it with my 4 hybrid, I never hit a draw and I needed one, and I pictured it and let it go. Best feeling!
