Hi Shawn, love the work you’re doing! Your instructions have been the best I’ve ever received! Makes so much sense and so simple. Unlearning all the stuff I’ve picked up over the last 27 years is difficult.

My question. I’ve been taking an easy swing with the driver. Using battering ram, nick the tee, and make it tumble. I have the throwing the club sensation and am focused on the farther and picture. My problem is distance. I’m only getting about 250-260 carry. I have a Titleist 910D2 9.5 driver with a Diamana ki’li 65 mid s-flex shaft.

I appreciate any advice/suggestions you have. Wish I could fly to Canada for a one on one lesson!

Edit: I meant I’m focusing on the target not farther.

Thanks Shawn!

Shawn, I was watching this video again and was wondering how your Flightscope recorded the distance on the shots? When I went for my fitting a year ago at Club Champion they told me Flightscope had a problem getting accurate distances inside hitting into the screen.

Shawn Clement

Hey Neal! We have been using the GC QUAD from Foresight sports for the last 7 years; that machine is by far the best bar none!

Shawn, In all your videos your head position makes it look like your eyes are focused well behind the ball, but you say you’re looking at the ball. Can you help me better understand the head position and the eye direction?
Thanks!

Shawn Clement

Yes! Please see “hammer drill” “tilt mile markers” “alignment reload” videos! Huge Huge!

Thank you Shawn!

Shawn. Sorry to bother you with another question. I have watched the battering ram, blur and driver tilt videos. This morning at the range (mats) I found that having found the bottom of the arc with my driver and address the ball from here, when I made my stroke I tended to hit the ground where it bottomed out. I am sure you have encountered this before. Any direction will be appreciated.

Shawn Clement

Hey Anthony! Sorry I missed this one! You simply want to pre-deploy your arc into dynamic action like the ball on a string analogy. Go to the “throwing series” and see the Driver version with the “hammer throw” comparison! You will love it!

Ryan Bell

When I tee the ball where you recommend, I tend to hit the ball too high. It is hitting the face (not a sky ball). I’ve tried a few different tasks but the only fix I’ve found is to tee the ball lower.

I’m trying the new tee height because I’m trying to optimize my carry. Off the lower tee height I only get about 9 or 10 degrees of launch.

What would you recommend?

Shawn Clement

It’s a process; let it sink in and give it some time! Try the strips of white electrical tape on the crown and see where the low point is and keep working on the tilt in the structure. Lots of little things need to come together for you to get that upward angle of attack. See “head tilt and hip swivel”and “tilt mile markers” videos.
