Hi Shawn,

I have been making some good progress with working the ball both ways throughout my bag, but I am struggling to get the driver dialed in. When I try to hit the draw my miss is a snap hook generally off the toe. My thought is that in an attempt to make sure I don’t cut across it because it is forward in my stance I am actually swinging to far to the right of my intermediate point. Does this make sense based on the ball flight I described. Any ideas out side the obvious of release it to the intermediate point and not to the right of it. Thanks for your help!

When you say the face is closed, it’s basically saying you are using a strong grip? when you take your stance just before starting the back-swing, the club face “appears” flush as you get behind the ball?

Paul Haber

perfect. Thank you for the quick response.

Shaun,
I am truly progressing nicely with your training, I was wondering whether the grip with the driver should be closed “statically” like the irons and hybrids to start the prediction/alignment/process?

Dan Yanick

Thanks Shawn!! I am 63 and been playing golf since I was 12, I have never struck the ball as solidly as I do when I stick with the process. I can’t wait to see what the season brings!!

HI Shawn, I just bought my first driver and learning how to swing it. My first question is I noticed I have to manipulate my hands at address if I want the driver head to lay flat on the ground or square to ball. If I put my hands at a comfortable position the toe or angle of the clubface is slightly up at address and it seems like it would be at impact also? I am confused if the bottom of the club should run parallel with the ground or flat at address and impact or not? I realize you hit the ball on the way up. How does the driver lie at address:) Thanks and any video I should watch please direct me.

Thank you for the quick reply and that makes sense, I will watch those videos as well. I like all your videos! I have watched many videos and have always been a little perplexed as to how you explain fades and draws??? I understand the concept of intermediate point and having a target. Do you visualize swinging to the intermediate point and following through to your target? Ball placement in the stance is important also? Could you recommend a video that you explain all this in a manner that isn’t your traditional explanation method?

Richard Gross

Hi Shawn, Why do you use a steel shaft in your driver and do you recommend it for a player with swing speed of 95 mph with driver?
