How did Savannah choose to hit left handed? Did she try right handed first then switch?
See our youtube video on “beginner and which side you should be swinging on shawn clement”
So much more powerful after doing this drill with my dominant trail hand. I was making the same mistake of not loading my trail arm. So I was only .using my weaker lead arm to play!
Shawn, I have an issue that is not directly related to this video but permeates my swing across the board. I tend to twist my lead foot as I transfer my weight. I twist so that my foot faces the target. I’m sure this is a power leak. I tried closing my stance with the lead foot, but still getting remnants of the twist. Is there a drill that can rectify this?
The walking drill dude! Do that till the cows come home! Plus the perpetual motion drill series just started with chips, then pitches this week then irons next week which will be sweet for you!
Also, please see the “kinetic chain series” which is really key as well as “pumping up the swing” video
Great video Shawn!! Just to clarify, as you know, I play right handed and my right hand is dominant. I think we had worked on this last year. Probably time to revisit?
Hi Sumit!
All about getting the feel of letting the kinetic chain pull the arms through to a nice full release; you want to do it with each hand and then both hands together like in the “release fine tuning” except with a nice turbo charge in the freed up leg work!
Shawn I have made great strides with the strong grip, in fact I’m hitting some of the best irons in some time.
However I struggle with my driver, I use a strong grip as well but still hitting a fade or down right slice……..any suggestions would be appreciated.
FYI was a 10 before your lessons Now a 4!! Thank you
Mike
Hi Mike!
It simply means you still have an open face dynamically. Just had a lesson last night where my student was delivering nice draws with irons and then when the woods came, he was slicing. Because the Centre of Gravity and the Centre of Mass is different, AND THE FACE is round instead of flat, many factors change for the eyes. He was using a much weaker grip and a much more open face than with his irons and when I had his close the face just enough to go with a nice draw, which the GC Quad told us after it was 0.3 degrees closed at impact, he thought it was 30 degrees more closed than his irons.
So, close the face 30 more degrees, deliver your “arc blur” through the tip of tee on the way up and in the direction of the intermediate point and out into the picture AND SEE HOW IT FLIES. Do a serious goldie locks with it and really let it go and see what the shot looks like WHEN YOU STAY ON TASK. Enjoy!
