Shawn …

A question regarding task…

using certain tasks i am able to hit the ball pretty decent 90% of the time those are awesome…however when i focus intently on the grass between the ball and blade for the task and do a full swing i tend to shank(hossel and face open) 80% of the time…but if i just generally look at ball and swing the task pans out pretty good most of the time. Curious any thoughts on the difference…set up is exactly the same hands/distance blurr/….

when this happens i lose ability to do the normal task as well shanking everything…. so i go back to the feet together drill for about 10 minutes and then i am able to do the normal task.

this is great stuff just curious on what might be the issue when i purposely stare intently at grass to cut through verses just thinking cut through the grass…why it alters my results.

Shawn,
What I love about your system is you say things then they hit me like 6 months later.

I never thought I had a stay w task issue / over the top issue until I realized I’ve been getting correctly setup then defaulting to the ball on 50% of my swings.

Door frame doesn’t really resonate with me. For irons if my miss tends to be in the thin side would sending divots over my IP left or right depending on chosen flight plan work?

For driver is it as simple as throw the club or flick the tee? I played the last few holes today really staying with my IP and my goodness what a difference. Full compression and freedom.

Matthew Costello

Did this today. I was absolutely NUTTING the ball w my irons. Almost holed out from 170 2x!

The more specific I was with my intent and the deeper I went down to get the divot the more I compressed the ball.

IN YOUR HUMBLE OPINION: What is the task that best translates to driver? I don’t feel that deep kinetic engagement with the driver that I do w 3W and irons.

But this is a game changer. Once I sent some divots into a hazard on the 10th hole (I was 6 over) I played even on the back (harder side) and had 3 birdies in 9 holes. Super excited to continue to hone the divot task!

Hey Shawn,
After having watched your New Favorite Drill a thought occurred to me about focusing on a task. As the hands lead the club head through impact, today on the range I focused on that, delivering the handle of the club over the intermediate point towards the target. My hybrid results were markedly better as I’d been battling snap hooks in recent weeks. In your opinion is this task too much about body position ( insuring the hands lead the club head through impact) or could this be a task worth focusing on in future practice session? Thx

Matt Davis

Hi Shawn. Help!!! So frustrating I can’t stay on task on the course. Going ‘brain dead’ at the top of the swing and just allowing myself to be distracted by swing thoughts on course. Practicing well and can seem to effortlessly stay on task with great results, but on course I seem to get this disconnect with my plan and delivery.
So incredibly frustrating!!

hi Shawn, question for you?

How are you aligning the clubface with your draw or fade? I see your shoulder is pointing to the right on the draw but why does your clubface look so open at address? I notice this more with the 7 iron.

With the fade it looks more closed at address. Maybe it is an illusion but I can’t see how that would work.

Am I seeing it wrong?

Cheers
