Hi Shawn.

you had said in my swing analysis- “Nice backswing; but not enough turn with the pelvis and rib cage; causing the arms to stay too close to the body”.

This drill gets me that garage door drill feel, along with helping me with what you said mentioned above.

How much work on these drill do I need to do regularly to get a better turn?
Hitting my 8 iron 160-165 yards within 15 feet.

Thank you.

Shawn Clement

It varies; just once in a while to keep the feel fresh; as long as your feel that you are using momentum to deliver the shots and don’t feel the need to interfere.

This may be an over simplification but it seems after watching and benefitting from a number of your videos that your swing instruction is based on the body rotation swinging the arms without any manipulation out toward the target.I am 77 years old and 260 pounds and I have a difficult time getting the trail arm elbow leading in the downswing. You pointed out in this video the need for the whole body to turn while using the Sergio Garcia tip in order to get the trail arm to lead the hands thru impact. Do you think that my lack of body turn in my swing is preventing me from leading with the trail elbow and preventing me from getting a snap release out in the direction of the target?

Amazing Speed after the collection-never heard that loud Swoosh before so far in front of the impact point!!!

Great stuff! 👍😀👌

It’s crazy. What you teach is almost the exact opposite of what my coach has been teaching me for the past 2 years. However, with your approach I’m swinging the club so much faster and not getting injured like I was trying to swing the way my coach wanted. But I spent about $10K on lessons and have 10 or so left and I don’t want to go back!
I still really struggle with getting that trail elbow into position without my swing getting armsy. I can do the Sergio drill and football drill. But when I get two hands on the club, you’d think I never tried the drills at all. It all goes to crap

What is the task that has resonated most with you? The series starting next week goes deeper and will help you understand some key elements of how the ball gets in the way of the golf swing that is headed into the flight plan.

Great video,

Trail arm and leading with the elbow. Not something that I consciously think about.

Question 1: let it happen naturally or consciously create?

I see you do this a lot in your practice swings (Shawn’s favourite drill). I believe this is shallowing the swing path and really promotes a in out in path. Good for the draw.

‘Question 2: on the back swing does one need to take it further behind to create room for the in to out path?

Bruce Donaldson

Thanks!
