Sean, Just watched this video. As an MIT Grad School trained engineer, and Orthopedic Surgeon, I’m not sure that encouraging your students to “snap” the club in the direction of the target is good advice. As you know, that hands are actually slowing down at the point of contact without any conscious effort of the golfer to do so. The club “snaps” by itself as the club is released. Any attempt to force a snap, in my humble opinion, will ruin the kinetic chain sequence!

Absolutely correct!! We have said this at nauseam in so many of our videos such as “pre-motor cortex series” and “using the weight in the swing axe-drill with Savy” as well as all the release videos. When the body is reacting tp the weight of the “arm-Club” unit, it will time itself wonderfully and we have always advocated to ALLOW THE WEIGHT OF THE INSTRUMENT to Release us and never to use physical manipulation to force the rotation of the club at any time. Here I dropped my guard and assumed that by this time my students would have seen this hard core wisdom in golf fundamental; so forgive me for not have been more clear.

Hi Shawn, I use the task of cutting grass but I don’t feel like I get that nice snap also I have a tendency to focus on the impact zone because my focus is on cutting the grass where the ball is. Can you give me some pointers for the cutting grass task to get more through to the target while still feel like I’m cutting grass and also get a better release?
You bet! See “grass whip training” and “throwing the club” combined with “the goldie locks series” then see “target confirmation series”
This video nailed it. It’s funny when the brain focuses on one part of the swing other parts of the swing revert back to old habits. Precisely focused “REPS” on the correct feel is what I am lacking. This explains the lead arm across the chest and the loss of lag in the downswing. As I watch your swings I see much higher hands that remain in front of the chest. It is a powerful position and I will definitely own it.

I really like that you are not method teacher 👍👍 Like you said, many release patterns can be effective. When i try that wider release, my effort level goes up. How do you feel it? I also try that paintprush drill and you can practice skipping without mat 👍🙂 I noticed that in your proshop there is no more impact snap training aid? In this video you still talk lot off “snapping” to target?
That snap is the release you feel when you throw the club in the direction you want to start the ball and not let go; see “snap release polish” video. The impact snap tool is stiff fine but the marketing is not optimal…😝
