shawn, is there a lot separation between ur upper and lower bod?
myself I have very little I found the more separation I have. it hurts my back.
lastly how do u keep club low to ground for those distance.it seems impossible to do because u can t increase arc radius once everything is stretched out
thx, mark
Hey Mark! We have a saying that you never want to do anything with strain; the separation between upper and lower body I have never paid attention to; it is something that just happens when you are focused on the proper task which would engage your human kinetic chain which is a built in self preservation system. My favourite series for this is the “kinetic chain facilitation and engagement series” this series will also address the low to ground question too! 👍😀
Hey Shawn,
With this driver setup for accuracy and the ball teed lower, you’re saying the swing path should be more sweeping like a fairway wood or hybrid with a light tap on the ground at the bottom of the arc? Thx
Correct! 👍😀
What about club face? More open or close?
When you deliver your awesome whip along the ground and into the direction you want to start the ball, what is your flight? Too much right? Then close. Too much hook? Then open A BIT. Make sure you feel that the action and speed of the whip is peaking well past the ball before you open it though.
Using this technique, would I also be thinking of throwing the club more like a mid-long iron, i.e. football throw, versus the javelin throw normally used with driver?
Still want the wide one with the hammer throw-skip the stone task.
Thanks for your reply Shawn, I love your kinetic chain approach to the golf swing, you’ve helped me improve my swing quite a bit in the two years that I’ve been watching your videos. Generally, I’ve always had more reliable drives teeing the ball lower and tend to use that method unless I have a significant following wind. Teeing the ball up, foo often I block it out right with it fading even farther right. I think maybe I over swing. lose focus, layoff with my hands…something bad. I’m just an aging, senior, bogey golfer struggling to hit drives longer than 230 yards anymore. But I still love trying. Thanks.
Did you see the “use the weight of kettle bell through door” video? Please do this with either a kettle bell or a 4 pound hammer and use perpetual motion to apply it. You will feel an incredible sensation of centring where you cannot get in front or sway off of it and you can apply this feel to all shots including the hitting up on the driver. INCLUDE THE “STICKING THE FINISH” in this so your brain can find it’s way to keep the body in balance throughout so you don’t blow out of it early!👍
Yes, I have watched it, but have not yet tried using the kettle bells; but I will. Thanks for the suggestion.
You have been mentioning a lower teed ball, do you mean that for all shots or just windy condition shots. I missed a video that addresses this.
Hi Jeffrey! This is an important option for narrow fairways, windy conditions, swirling winds or simply hitting more fairways. Not everyone is able to deliver up through the ball with a positive angle of attack at first and using the ground as a training aid to stay along the ground is a tremendous stepping stone to achieve this later.
Thanks for the reply. I have always had trouble with hitting up, with 1 instructor suggesting ball 3/4 above clubhead and ball positioned at left toe or even more forward. This looks like an easier swing thought to master, plus this suggestion will help with driver off the deck shots not being so very different. Thanks!
BTW, pls tell Sav and Mu that I so admire their swings, graceful yet powerful! Being 69 I wish I could swing like them. I will keep watching videos and hoping!
Right on! 👍👍
