Hello Shawn
English version
Hello Shawn
For the draw I have the impression that your alignment is slightly open. That is to say that your rear foot (right foot) is a little back compared to your front foot (left foot).
Is it an optical effect or a reality?
If yes, why ?
Haha, yes!! And we are going to do lots more while on our break! I have 40 more hours free per week of teaching now that our government has put the kabosh on gyms and ski hills and golf courses and practice ranges…we start our live shows tomorrow! 😀👍
Shawn I am sorry but I dont know where to send you a message privately but I want to put a simulator in my house what is the one you use on your videos ..??
Email me at [email protected] and I will put you together with our team at Foresight sports; I have the GC Quad but you can do the same job with a reconditioned GC 2 for a 1/3 of the cost. Shawn
Do you still turn the driver face in 45 degrees? I watched some lessons for senior golfers you taught in which you recommended turning the club face . When I do so, it seems like I have so many lines going on that it confuses my mind on how to align to the target. Do you and Saavy turn the face before gripping the club?
Just think like a soccer player; if you kick a soccer ball in a way to make it curve to the left, with your right foot, what is the angle of the inside of the foot (striking area) in relation to the path of the kick? The club face represents the inside of the foot.
Shawn, comparing your swing to Savy, I see in your completed backswing your arms are more parallel to the ground. Savy’s arms and shoulder turn reach more above her head. Your elbows show less bend while Savy’s elbow bend is more pronounced. I assume both are correct, what’s the difference? Is there a video illustration of each approach?
If you were to compare my left handed swing with hers, it would look a bit different too; she is on her backhand and I am on my forehand. I am very envious of her width though! 😀👍😝
I was experimenting with arm lock putting and kind of liking how it makes me more aware of moving the APU. I came across a YouTube video on putting grip and technique where you advocate this for some of your students. Do you still like this style of putting? Other than feel and practice how do I know if it is right for me? Do you think Bettinardi is still the best model for this. I have always used center shafted putters and they don’t make a center shaft. Thank you in advance for your reply..
If you cannot feel the putter swinging from the shoulders down with either a stock double overlapping grip or a cross handed lead hand low grip, and still feel too much wiggle in the wrists or a propensity to control the putter from the hands, then the arm-lock is the way to go and the Bettinardi is still the one that is best designed and proven. It’s either that or switch sides and see how the other stroke feels! 😀👍
Every time I go to a simulator now, I drop a ball 3 paces forward + 1 pace right of the tee — and use all momentum to try to aim for that target while knowing the low point of my swing. Thank you, Shawn and Sav…
this video, along with the prediction series (for me the balance video really helped me lock in) have really helped me hold onto the “feel” of what I’m supposed to be doing.
When I start to have issues, is when I have a hard time focusing and remembering how to “See” or “feel” the shot. Unstoppable momentum has really helped me remember how to engage. It also helps me not take too big of a backswing. A truly great analogy.
Great stuff Kevin!
We have a nice 4 video line up on the slopes starting this week with uphill shots; imagine now how we can use unstoppable momentum in every shot situation now! 😀👍
hello Shawn, I am truly enjoying your premium membership. I’m looking at your contact video and feel that I understand almost all of your points and could put them into action (does not mean I CAN DO THEM just feel like I could), Having said that and watching this video I see that starting the down swing; the right elbow goes down and in front etc.. Do you let go of the club so that it goes vertical or do you keep an angle and continue the swing until you are in the other side and release the club. I am having trouble visualizing what happens when the club returns to the horizontal position and thru impact. Help. THANKS
Thanks for your answer. However, it did not provide the answer I was looking for; also, one needs to ask the right question in order to get the correct answer. I watched a video titled “Eagle session with Savy-getting better AOA and lag. It answer my question to perfection. Thanks for your prompt response.
Hi Maggie!
This is not a statement to be impolite, because I care big time, but to focus on what you are talking about is sabotage to the machine on an epic scale. See the “throwing the club” video, about mid way on the list of videos on premium, my favourite, and please find an area to do this safely and use some clubs with steel shafts and not graphite, as the graphite shafts break very easily. Then after throwing to a few to the target, take a video of your swing face on and see what that looks like when your club goes out towards the target. You will be floored and amazed that your body finds all the correct positions magically on it’s own! 😀👍
Then see “predict contact” and “the goldie locks series” to predict properly.
