Shawn, would you take the same approach for fades? My tendency is to overdraw and I work on the fade. Should I open the face and release to the left of IP until I see a ball start right and move right then back off from there?

Yes, working on the fades is a very important skill to acquire to balance out the draws; see “fade fine tuning” and “draw fine tuning” videos and let me know if you have any lingering questions after that. 😀

Shawn,

This reminds me of my time at the clinic and is extremely helpful. Like the comment below I can relate better to this instruction as opposed to trying to duplicate what I see on the other video. This grass practice provides the immediate feedback I need. The divet tells me exactly what I did so when you are not there I can still learn quickly. Currently, I am doing tons of drills only to find that I am doing them correctly and having to try an undo the bad habits. I am lucky to have a huge grass facility. If I can combine the training from this session and the session with Larry my swing will finally evolve.

I really appreciate these kinds of videos where others who are in learning mode have breakthroughs. When you are instructing in a video, you as the teacher have so many good reps in your system, that the example is well done and sometimes perfect. When people have breakthroughs, you can see how they get from their mediocre starting point to a light bulb moment. That path between so so and better is helpful to see.

For me, I see a video that you do and go and try it. I think I’m doing the same thing but in video when I look at myself, I can see I’m not. I sometimes struggle to figure out what I’m not doing or feeling that you are doing/feeling in the video.

When you shoe videos that use students implementing what you teach and they have breakthroughs, it helps me to see that it is not an identical mirror of what you are doing but their version of it that works for them. . Keep up the good work.
