hi Shawn, been asking too many questions, but its the excitement of an effortless change in my game. Having said “effortless”, is there a video in which you talk about what is it you mean by effortless. We all want to hit a driver miles but what is the difference in hitting it far with effort vs effortlessly, for example many times in videos you mentioned : effort 3 on 10, What would a 7 on 10 in effort look like, will it go further?

Shawn Clement

The 2 ennemies of the swing are manipulation (being careful) and effort. When you apply effort you short circuit the engament of the kinetic chain. It simply means that if your full time job was to send drivers down a fairway for 8 hours a day over 250 yards, how would you swing? You would use momentum all day long and stay away from effort.

absolutely, experience it today wrote about it on another video. 🙂

I tried this last year on the range with my wedge, lower shot to higher shot, same distance. Are you THROWING the club at the target higher and lower to get the different heights? Or is it ball placement, I was doing a lower follow through to higher follow through, that was before joining here, so is the thought THROW the club higher and lower?

Another question would be. don’t worry about positions, etc. Cut the grass in the direction you want the ball to go. So would a good practice session be like above. Go to range, start cutting “dandelions”. And adjust accordingly, amount of closed face, open face etc to get the ball flight you want for your swing and than keep doing that. Don’t worry about looking like Tiger and thinking about positions, just let the club cut the grass in the direction you want ball to start.

Wow Shawn, I’ve made huge jumps in my golf game this season thanks to your methods. I started out this season before your videos shooting over 100. Then about 3/4 through the season I started breaking 100 with high 90s. This past weekend I shot a 91 and got a hole in one Saturday. Then on Sunday I played 9 and shot a 40. Does the golf season HAVE to end?!?

For fairway shots, where is the dandelion stem; below the equator of the ball, at/above the surface of the ground…? Does it matter?

Thanks!

Shawn, great video. Watched a video from you a while back. It’s where you were indoors hitting the ball and then a penny in front with the same swing to ingrain hitting toward target. Do you recall the name of that video.
Thanks

That’s it. Thanks a bunch. I saw a drill to stop early extension. Basically was to use a chair and keep your butt in contact with the chair from back swing to finish. However after studying your teaching this drill is probably not needed if I keep my focus on the correct target (where I wanted to send the ball). I.e. if I do that it’s impossible to early extend. Agree??
