My home course is Highland Meadows in Toledo , Ohio. We have an LPGA tournament sponsored by Marathon, ( maybe Savy should try to qualify). I am a 3.1 index and if I miss the green I am constantly faced with these shots into fast greens. I shot 77 yesterday and it should have been 72. I failed to get up and down 4 times when I was just off the green. I know I am trying to control the shot. I watched rhythm training #2 and this may help. Any other suggestions
Hi Joe! This is what made the difference for Savy last season; what I have her do is play “small golf” by David Ogrin who is one of the only guys to beat Tiger one-one final round to win the Texas LaCanterra Open in 1996.
David is the father of Goldie Locks too!
Set up 9 balls around the green in the said grass in different areas; and the goal is to pretend you missed all 9 greens in regulation and to get them up and down. David’s best score is 3 over because a few of those shots are short sided and require a longer putt! Play this at least once a week for 3 sets.
Great video, i use a left hand low putting stroke (right handed )would it be worth using that when using aputting stroke feel ?
Not a problem at all! I have shown that to many students who have a little glitch in their chipping and the success rate is crazy high!!
Brilliant Shawn and Matt! This should help enormously as well as helping our Junior section who struggle very much in this area of learning. (Can only be the teachers’ fault!) Looking forward now to just missing the greens! Regards Ian
Awesome! Go team!!👍👍
Hi Shawn. Really love the way you teach. One question. On fullswing i look at the grass behind the ball and the dandelion stem comes right out of the middle of the ball. Same with these short chips? Thx
Yes, you bet! The reason this is effective is that you see the leading edge ready to cut through the stem in the middle of the ball; then you let the weight of the arms and club fall through that cut in the direction of the intermediate point.
BINGO. Best instruction in golf. Thanks Shawn and Matt. Staying with the task of cutting the dandelion stem is my key. If my old ball back position and chunk attack shows up….only chunk result. A golfers two best friends are he beloved dandelion and Goldilocks. Je vous en prie
Right on Jeremy! Haha, non-non, JE vous en prie! 😝👍
