I’ve found that focusing on the intermediate point and intending on heaving the club in that direction tends to take care of the backswing not getting too deep.
This was another golden WIG video. I felt like I was losing my driver swing and my 3‑wood—doing everything right, but I kept hooking or pushing and couldn’t find the momentum path, even with perpetual motion. It was discouraging. Then I found this video; the feedback of shoulder/bicep to chin instantly solved it. I was just getting too deep in my backswing, getting too flat. Now I know exactly where the slot is. Pure gold from Shawn. Thank you!
And I know we don’t do body positions in WIG, but I have to say when I look at how my backswing is oranized at the top with this feel, it looks pro to me…
What powers theack and forth motion?torso, shoulders, legs, arms?
None of the above! 😝
The golf swing is 2 kinetic chains reunited by the transition; like walking! See the “walking drill” and the “kinetic chain facilitation series”
I found myself focusing on the blur too much and I wasn’t finishing my shot
Let the momentum track through the arc blur and you are simply witnessing the “unstoppable nature of this momentum! 👍
So my issue when I pick my target as soon as I look down at the ball my mind just thinks ball no matter how hard I think of the blur of the club would it help if I looked at the intermediate point when I swing?
It can take a while; if you look at the hammer drill video, we are squeezing the ball through the doorframe essentially compressing it into the direction of flight, but the way you collect it with your hands ahead and the trail arm still bent and then extend through that compression into the flight plan all the while using momentum to carry you through the whole thing.
When on the tee box, on par 3s, I tee it right behind a divot and see the sole of club whip through the bottom of the divot and my eyes are in the divot. So yes, that can work for sure! With Driver, I went a nice couple of weeks with the eyes between the ball and the IP and focused on waiting till momentum brought the club through that spot which meant I was in the clear for staying with the shot. Great question and thanks for posting!!👊👍
