Hey Shawn, when I wanted to create more lag I would have the swing thought of driving the butt of the club into the back of the ball (and therefore holding off on the clubhead coming around). Is that essentially the same as what you’re referring to here? or will butt end of club into wall be more productive?

Shawn Clement

Hey Craig! The key is to get the action to collect the ball from where it is and deliver or release the ball into the direction you want it to start on; hands get there and pass the ball first. This week’s video coming out on ‘task update” will really help!!

Love this drill. Going to give it a go today. Key for me is your wording, ‘there should be no pushing with the arms, it’s pure weight’. So, to me this means pure weight of the arm-club unit. Will let you know how it goes!

Shawn Clement

Yessir! Exactly!!

Tried this on the range, I like this task can’t manipulate the clubface. Battering ram to right of intermediate for a draw and left for a fade?

Shawn Clement

Spot on Lyle! Yes!

All I can say is check the attached picture. That is the type of battering ram I envision if hitting to the left. Strong left hand on grip parallel to ram. Palm facing target on grip perpendicular to ram. Now I have to order more practice balls.

Nice!!😀💪👍

This video has so many additional benefits such as providing proper club placement in the backswing, swing plane, angle of attack, and club release. All the things that modern golf instruction talks about but fails to cohesively illustrate how to perform it.

One task, the battering ram task, allows all of the above to naturally occur without having to think about any of it.

Thank you Shawn for another tremendous lesson that is task-focused and allows us to perform as gravity geniuses, freeing our minds to enjoy this great game.
