Hi Shawn, I play with G400 Max 10.5, recently switched from the stock shaft to Tensi Orange. The fitter said I hit very hard, so I should change the shaft. The regular stock shaft was very very soft. He replaced it with the Tensi Orange Stiff 60g. Ball flight actually gotten better from a lot of sliced shot. I guess I was able to hit it with more square face vs open. Now it is more like bigger fade. The issue is it would launches high, and dead stop after it lands on the ground. After watching your videos on driver. I start to aim more clipping the tee, target out front, at address I hover the club, leave it in the center of stance, close the club face. I began to see ball goes to the left, some with little draw. However, the ball flight still seems to be higher than ideal. I read something about this is a high launching head. I feel because the launch is so high, it lost distance. Should decrease the loft from 10.5 to 9.5? Currently, I am carrying like 200-210 (don’t have launch monitor, based on distance marker. Thanks Hung
Yes, definitely lower the loft; especially since you hit high and you are now able to draw!

Very interesting fitting. In addition to the correct shaft weight does TXG also consider shaft length and/or counter balancing techniques? I have that same TaylorMade M1 driver with the Fujikura PRO56 Stiff Flex shaft. I find it impossible to hit – always feels very heavy and too long. Have been planning to play around with counter balancing weights to see if that helps.
Hi David! Yes, in deed, that can be frustrating!
If you have a “club champion” fitting facility near you which is like TXG, you can try different shafts on the same head and see how they feel; you will be quite surprised! We will be diving into length and counter weights with Ian at one point for sure! Shawn
I AM 75 YRS. YOUNG. DRIVER SS 75-80. USING A GBB EPIC DRIVER SET AT 9.5. 44 GRAM SENIOR SHAFT. AVERAGE DISTANCE IS 195 YDS. BALL FLIGHT IS HIGH. WOULD I BENEFIT WITH SOMETHING LIKE THIS CONSIDERING MY AGE?. THANKS,HARLEY.
I don’t think your age is the issue Harley; like Gordon asked below, we definitely want to do a few videos with slower swing speeds; but I would love to see if we can help you get through the ball as deeply as possible with as strong a grip as possible too!
Shawn
Great stuff. Ian knows his club dynamics. Will have to pay him a visit sometime as the swing is coming along….thoughts?
I would definitely recommend that Jeremy; would love to see how all your tools line up; your irons are a bit questionable as to the fit; but it looks like the woods are pretty good right now; I would start with an iron fitting and see what he recommends!
Shawn
very informative Shawn. How about a video for a more typical club golfer with SS of less than 90mph?
Hi Gordon!
We have a whole line up of videos we want to make at Ian’s place; just a treasure trove of information!
