Gday Shawn. Just picked up a great nugget with my chipping. Making sure my club face is dynamically square at impact has stopped the ball bouncing sideways after it lands. Now they’re actually rolling true. Have you ever noticed this?

Shawn Clement

Hey Matt! Depends on path; you may have had a path that was a bit inside in the backswing which is common; have you seen our other videos with open faced chips?

Matt Davis

Could have been yes.. Contact has always been good, but always had to deal with the ball spinning off line 1st/2nd bounce… bit hard to hole them when they do that!
Closing the face a tad is helping with those ones I want to roll out straight.. and I don’t have any issues with contact when I stay on task… I’m nipping them nicely

Hey Shawn,
I am training at feet together drill for chipping with some tasks like throw the hammer, basically i am able to hit very decent shots, but i am not able to get the sensation of a golf ball compressed. Any tips?

Shawn Clement

It is all about the quality of contact with the sole of club along the ground using momentum; the compression with the ball is secondary and a bi-product of solid sole to ground contact.
