New member, I recently took lesson and they reversed everything causing me to hit/lose balls off to the right. Decided to go premium instead of continuing with the lesson, any more videos showing top down view of your stance setup and swing. Maybe Mu, or Sav. How square are should I be to target ( final ball position) or flight plan? (Direction I want to throw the club)
Hey David! Yes! See my favourite series called “kinetic chain facilitation and engagement series” and #6 is especially good!
Then see “the goldilocks series” to dial in distance to ball, ball position, grip and club relationship, and levels.
“Alignment reload”video is a must too.
Thank you. I felt good about what I was trying to implement at the range today but I kept pushing the ball out to the right? The local guy u took a lesson from recently said my swing was too straight back, when I am working on kettle bell “outta the way” drills; should I be swinging parallel to squared feet and shoulders or to the inside? My goal is to play the draw? Would it be better to play a fade is my swing plane is natural more vertical? I am 6’3″ with a 77in wingspan if that makes a difference. I have been working on shortening the back swing as I have a tendency to over swing
Shawn, I love the way you teach! I am learning tons of stuff, and I thank you for imparting your great wisdom in golf to people like me! My question is about shot shapes. It seems like your “go to” shot is the draw. Is there ever a time where I should just try to hit it straight, or should I always try to spin it for a fade or draw? I know that straight ball flight is extremely rare, but it seems to me that aiming directly over the intermediate point would yield results at least as good as an attempted draw or fade—especially at my skill level! And it would be a lot easier to do! What am I missing?
What I have found through my teaching and personal playing is that when you try to hit straight, you are fighting the swing’s natural arc; and it tends to go against the brain as well since we don’t live in a 2 dimensional world. However, if you try to release freely over the intermediate point and get a nice little pull fade or a nice little push draw or if the ball looks straight in flight and you hit lots of fairways and greens then heck, have at it and enjoy! When there is a specific flight plan, then there is a specific feel associated with that, it just makes things more clear and there are many variations of fades and draws out there. If straight feels more simple, and you feel good about it, then do it. 😀👍
Hey Shaun just wanted to say thanks for all the great teachings ! My goal was to break 80 ended up shooting 74 . It was so fun, and having a task on every swing made it possible . It’s so refreshing to have someone making the game easier for us!!
Hi Neil! How cool is that! Shattered the 80 mark! And yes, you said that so well: task into the direction of target with a nice dose of momentum. I am having a blast twirling my lassos into my flight plans at the moment and had a blissful Eagle at the lest hole yesterday!
Hi Shawn,
I’m a new member and love the content.
I’ve been watching your videos on YouTube and on here.
I have a question on pre setting the closed club face or maybe not a question but problem.
I have a strong grip and hip tilt ,I pre set the club face as closed but I’m still getting a fade or sometime a slice . I’d love to see a baby draw.
The first time I tried this tilt and strong grip (right foot slightly back) normal club face prior to watching your channel, I was hitting bombs at the driving range , but haven’t been able to recreate it. I’m getting weak slices or power fades.
When I pre set the club face as closed by a bigger degree it seems to cause it to slice more …. If I close it as a experiment even more I get a duff hook shot 20 yards to the left.
Presetting the club faces makes sense to me, but can’t seem to get it to work the way you describe.
Any ideas or videos I should look at ? Also how do I upload the monthly swing analysis video?
Thanks
Michael
Hi Michael! If you are an eagle member, go to the eagle exclusive section to upload the videos; send me face on and down the line of just the swings;
As for the issues you are having, this is common when you are STEERING the ball to the target instead of RELEASING the club in the direction you want to start the ball. Please see AND EXPERIENCE FOR YOURSELF, the “lead hand release”, “trail hand release”, Release fine tuning’, “snap release polish”, ‘turbo charge lead hand release” and “turbo charge trail hand release”, and “draw fine tuning”
Then as you get better at the releasing, then the grip and club face can be tweaked as you get good at drawing the ball.
Thanks Shawn I’ll have a look at them. Happy new year.
