Hello Shawn, This is my second time to try your way and I think that I finally have released my mind. I rejoined yesterday and watched a bunch of videos including this one and the axe one. I also purchased a grass cutting swing blade (from my first attempt in the spring). I have tried so many things. I am fifty and starting playing golf about 4 plus years ago. Many lessons later I still struggled with the game. Anyway, I went to the driving range and warmed up with my sword, then got to swinging. WOW! I have never hit the ball farther and more consistent. I was able cut and draw! I was hitting the middle of the net which is about 250 yards to the net. All these years, my hips definitely were not turning and I was hitting at the ball. Sorry for the long message but THANK YOU. I am a believer. Some of my old habits tried to slip in but was able to reset. Thank you again for making it easy, Wayne

Hi Shawn. Are you actually thinking in the swing “back to target” in any way? I find that if I don’t think it I won’t actually turn much. I’ll think of the grass clipping task and get in a hurry to execute the task. I’ve noticed a huge difference in distance accuracy if I do have this “back to target” thought. Is this wrong?

Shawn Clement

No, not wrong at all; this was one of Jack Nicklaus’s swing keys his whole life! THE PURPOSE of completing the full backswing is to gather the range of motion to effortlessly deliver a nice powerful action through the ball and into the flight plan. Once you solidify the feel of this powerful and easy feeling release, then things will streamline even more!
